REBECCA C. GATTEN WHITE

Rebecca C. Gatten White passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2018 at her home in Hardyville, after a courageous battle against breast cancer.  

Rebecca was born June 22, 1943 in Lincoln, Nebraska, to the late Hazel Ruth and Joseph Cuyler Carson, and grew up in Macomb, Illinois. She was a graduate of Southern Illinois University, a lifelong artist, avid reader, antiques collector, gardener, card and Scrabble player. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. “Pete” White Sr., and is survived by her daughters, Ann Cridlin (Wayne) and Caron Sterling (Chris); grandchildren, James and Chris Kemp, Trey Whisenant and Hazel Rose Sterling; her twin brother, Randy Carson (Barbara) of McHenry, Illinois; sister, Pam Johnson (Robert) and brother, John Carson, all of Macomb, Illinois, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the many friends and family members that helped her through her journey, especially Jamie Callis and Shannon Dean.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be during a private service with family at H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery in Hudgins.
