RCC’s Warsaw campus closes following positive COVID-19 case

Rappahannock Community College’s Warsaw campus was closed immediately due to a positive test of COVID-19 from a student, according to a release from the school Tuesday morning.

The student attended a science lab on campus on July 2 from 12:30-3:20 p.m., but had not been to campus prior, nor was the student on campus the week of July 9. The student was reported to be asymptomatic, had been wearing a mask and had practiced proper social distancing, the release stated.

There were four other students present, as well as a lab assistant and administrative staff member. All individuals who were in direct, sustained contact are advised to self-quarantine at home until further notice and all have been notified.

Following confirmation of a positive test for COVID-19 within RCC’s community, the facility affected will be immediately closed until such time as cleaning and disinfecting protocols can be completed, according to the release.
