RCC awarded grant to support food pantry

Rappahannock Community College received an $8,000 grant to expand hunger relief initiatives and promote food security among students through the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation’s continued partnership with the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education.
The grant will support RCC’s food pantry located on both the Glenns and Warsaw campuses. The pantries provide perishable and non-perishable food items as well as toiletries to students and staff in need and educational materials on healthy eating. Funds from the grant also support healthy snacks on both campuses for all students.
Anthem awarded a total of $100,000 to community colleges across Virginia to provide flexible funds for supporting hunger relief efforts and connecting students to sustaining public benefits.
Throughout November, RCC’s Staff Support Association is conducting a food donation drive to help families through the holidays.
