RAYMOND THOMAS OWENS

Raymond Thomas Owens, 83, of Hayes, died March 11, 2011 at Walter Reed Convalescent Center.
Raymond was a native of Gloucester County, born October 16, 1927 to the late Americus E. and Essie G. Owens.
He served in the Army-Air Force during World War II. Raymond was a member of Union Baptist Church, and a retired firefighter at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown.
Raymond loved tap dancing and being with people, and he dedicated much of his time at nursing homes visiting with everyone.
Raymond was a longtime member of the Improved Order of Redmen, Sioux Tribe No. 9, Achilles.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lena Virginia Owens, and sister, Margie O. Hogge.
He is survived by daughters, Barbara J. Owens and husband Linwood, Sandra Sabo, and Vicky Hudgins and husband James; sons, Raymond Curtis Owens and wife Sue, and Keith Owens and wife Tess; brother, John E. Owens and wife Betsy; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden. The family received friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
