A funeral service for Deacon Raymond Stokes of Gloucester, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) in Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester. He died May 26, 2017.

He was a native of Gloucester County and a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he had served on the Usher, Trustee and Deacon Ministries. He was a World War II veteran having served with the United States Army Red Ball Express.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deaconess Christine Stokes.

Survivors include two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
