RAYMOND ‘RAINBOW’ HAYNES FORREST

Raymond “Rainbow” Haynes Forrest of Reedville, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 26, 2021. Rainbow was born and raised on Gwynn’s Island which he loved. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He was a coach for the Mathews Youth Baseball League for many years and then became an umpire for 30 plus years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Lee and Della Forrest; his brothers, E.T., Edwin Carroll, James Lee, and his son, Steve.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Darlene; his children, Timmy Forrest, Lynne Martin (Rodney), Joyce Ford, Tommy Lewis (Kathy) and Charles Lewis (Lisa); grandchildren, Josh Vencill (Kayla), Jeremy Forrest, Laura Hood (Cordell), Erinn Headley (Spencer), Ashley Payne (Cody), Maegan Poad (Billy), Jason Lewis (Leah), Mary Daiger (Brian) and Taylor Lewis; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that loved him.

Rainbow rededicated his life to the Lord on Jan. 20, 2021. He spent the last few months loving his Lord.

The family received friends on Monday, March 29, 2021, from 1-2 p.m. at Gwynn’s Island Church of the Nazarene, followed by the service at 2 o’clock. Burial followed at Gwynn’s Island Cemetery. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia, assisted the family.
