RAYMOND DELBERT HOGGE

Raymond Delbert Hogge of Wicomico, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2014 at the age of 86.

He was a retired building inspector for Gloucester County for many years. Delbert was instrumental in organizing and volunteered for a number of years with the Abingdon Rescue Squad. A devout Christian he was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church, serving as deacon, member of the Men’s Bible Class, and dedicated to serving in any area needed. For many years he worked tirelessly on the church cemetery committee. Delbert’s faith was strong and his walk with the Lord was known to all who knew him.

He was honest, a man of integrity, thoughtful and understanding. He loved people and had a way of making everyone feel special. He had a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. Delbert loved his wife, was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Hogge; four brothers; a sister, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hogge; daughters, Bonnie Lewis and husband Marshall, Dolores Goode and husband Freddie, and Terri Bagby and husband Ray; step-children, Brian Dunnigan and wife Valerie, Ed Dunnigan, and Robert Dunnigan and wife Kim; brother, Mervin Hogge; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton was held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, at Providence Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, June 15, 2014, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
