The Mathews High School varsity football team was shut out, 48-0, on Friday night at Rappahannock High School. The non-conference loss drops the Devils’ record to 0-5; the homestanding Raiders, meanwhile, improved to 4-1.
The Devils, who have been outscored, 216-34, so far this season, look to break into the win column on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to King and Queen to face the winless Tigers. Game time is 2 p.m.
The following Friday, Oct. 17, Mathews will host King William in the Blue Devils’ homecoming game, also at 7 o’clock. ...
