RAL announces winners of two March exhibits

The Rappahannock Art League has announced the winners of two March exhibits—“Weather or Not” and “Down Memory Lane,” both of which include paintings, photography, fiber art, glass, and sculpture entered by member artists.

“Perfect Day,” an oil painting by Sammy Anderson, won first place in the show “Weather or Not,” while “Shadows in Blue,” an oil painting by Patty Mochary, won first place in the show “Down Memory Lane.”

The shows were judged by award-winning abstract and figural artist Theresa Wells Stifle, a former Falls Church gallery owner and curator. Stifle now lives in Hayes and chairs the Gloucester Arts Festival Studio Tour.

Other winners were:

Weather or Not—Second place, “Dreaming of Spring Winds,” a watercolor by Carol Vaughn; Third place, “Summer Haze,” an oil and cold wax painting by Bonnie-Leigh Jones. Honorable mentions went to Ellen Huddy, Ellen Werner, Suzanne Quel, Kathleen Peterson and Laurie Breakwell.
