Rain showers refresh the local crops

From North: The refreshing showers which fell here last Sunday and Tuesday made the farmers all feel as if their toil and labor for their crops will be crowned with good results.

Mr. R.L. Belvin gave a very delightful outing to the girls and boys of this neighborhood on Thursday last. Among those in the party were: Misses Lizzie Soles, Grace L. and Nora E. Lewis; Messrs. Shelly Mattox, Fred W. Forrest and James F. Lewis. Leaving Soles landing about 8 a.m. on the swift little boat owned by Mr. Jerry Hopkins, they landed on the shores of Yorktown at 12 noon. Lunch was then served; visited Cornwallis cave and around town. On returning home the breeze was dandy and crowd jolly.
