Rain holds off for Garden Week tour

Over 350 guests spent the day Saturday touring four local homes as part of Historic Garden Week in Virginia. Despite a light rain that began in the afternoon, most guests were able to enjoy viewing the homes and their grounds without getting wet.

Nina Watkins, chair of HGW for Gloucester and Mathews, said, “We were quite fortunate with the weather, as the rain held back until later in the afternoon and temperatures were mild.” She added, “It was actually perfect for touring because the air was balmy and a bit overcast as the day went on and we only had light sprinkles around 3-5 p.m.”

She said the entire event turned out beautifully. “People have called to say the weather and the tour schedule were just lovely,” she said.
