QuickStart Children of Virginia reported that the 34 preschoolers at Mathews Elementary School received a Racquets for Reading book grant and some fun giveaways. This grant was funded by the Mathews Rotary Club. The PreK teachers ordered books from Scholastic. On the day of the event, MES principal Lee Anne Bray read the students a book, and then talked a little about Racquets for Reading. The students were joined by Canto from Canine Companions and, at the end of the celebration, each student got to choose and take home several books. QuickStart Tennis of Central Virginia Inc. (aka QuickStart Children of Virginia) is an all-volunteer, grassroots Community Tennis Association established in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization to promote, develop and grow QuickStart Tennis in Virginia for all beginners, especially underserved and at-risk youth, using the kid-sized QuickStart Tennis format.
