Rachel E. Gibson, 65, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2019. 

Rachel was born on July 12, 1953 in Mathews County to John Edward Elliott and Carolyn Elliott.

She is survived by her father, John Edward Elliott; her granddaughter, Lauren Johnson; her brother, Wade Elliott, and her nephew, Jeremy Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Elliott, and her daughter, Lisa Johnson.

Rachel was a dedicated daughter, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her church family and visiting friends all around the county. The thing she loved to do most is spend time with her granddaughter. Rachel enjoyed taking Lauren to the beach, watching her soccer games, and was dedicated to her care and schooling.

The family created a fund for Rachel’s granddaughter Lauren. This fund will help with expenses for school and other hardships that may arise. Any donation will help and we would like to thank you in advance for any and all donations given. Donations can be given at www.TMCFunding.com.

A Celebration of Life for Rachel will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Cobbs Creek.
