Gloucester and Mathews will hold wo rabies vaccination clinics in October, starting with the Mathews clinic, which will be held this Saturday.
Mathews Animal Control will conduct the clinic from 8-11 a.m. at Animal Care of Mathews, 10746 Buckley Hall Road. The cost is $10 per dog and $15 per cat. All dogs and cats are required by law to be vaccinated against rabies.
Pre-registration is required for all hunting dogs. The form is available online or by calling 804-725-6395. For questions or concerns, call 804-725-7172, option 5, to reach the Mathews Animal Control officer. Volunteers are welcome and needed, said a press release.
Gloucester
The Gloucester clinic will be held from 1-4 p.m. the following Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Gloucester High School parking lot. This clinic is for dogs only ($10 cash only), with proceeds to benefit the Friends of Animal Control.
All dogs must be leashed; aggressive dogs must be muzzled. All rabies vaccines will default to a one-year expiration (three-year rabies vaccines will be available with proof of a prior rabies vaccine).
The Gloucester clinic is sponsored by Gloucester Animal Control, the Gloucester Veterinary Hospital and Rotary Club of Gloucester, in conjunction with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, CERT, the Gloucester Treasurer’s Office, the Virginia Department of Health, Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, and GHS.
