Quilt challenge

A year ago, members of the Bay Quilters quilt guild were presented with a challenge to create a quilt using portions of a pre-printed fabric panel. After selecting a panel, each quilter cut out the desired parts and used them to design and create an original quilt. The finished tops were presented at the July meeting. Shown holding their handiwork are, from left, Anne Tyler—Cat-in-the-Hat; Louise Witherspoon—Birdies n’ Berries table runner; Cherie Johnson—How Much is That Doggie in the Window; and Mary Proud, Pat Calautti and Pat Rawls holding two quilts made by Pat Calautti—Bears in the Woods and Oriental Butterfly. These quilts along with others will be on display at the Bay Quilters Exhibit in Mathews Memorial Library during Market Days in September. The next meeting of the Bay Quilters will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, at Central United Methodist Church, 117 Church Street, Mathews. Meetings are open to all quilt lovers. ...
