Pulling together again

A community league is commonly defined as an organization of residents who represent their community at large. They work to provide recreational opportunities for the community, address issues which affect the community, and keep neighbors up-to-date on the news.

The Piankatank Community League of the Harcum area in Gloucester does all of the above, and more: it gives back to the community. This group of outstanding citizens also includes some of the county’s best cooks.

The league meets monthly on the third Friday at its building on Harcum Road. To boost more interest in attendance potluck dinners were planned. Giving each dinner a theme has brought to the table various dishes all could share.

Members have taken part in such themes as Family Picnic, A Light Dinner, Game Night, and September’s meeting, with “Your favorite Dish for Autumn Weather.” The following recipes are the dishes the league members shared with each other, and true to their policy they are...
