Public’s help sought in Mathews Subway shop burglary

The Mathews County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for information on a burglary that occurred on Tuesday at the Subway in the 10900 block of Buckley Hall Road, Mathews.

According to a press release, a Subway employee reported the burglary at 8:04 that morning.

During the initial investigation, investigators determined that the burglary had occurred at 3:21 a.m., when an unknown subject dressed in a hooded sweatshirt forced open the front door of the sandwich shop and went directly to the safe.

The suspect was able to open the safe and remove an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled out the front door of the business.
