Public service project

Recently, the Abingdon Ruritan Club donated Little Free Libraries to Abingdon, Achilles and Bethel Elementary schools. Members built and decorated the libraries as one of their public service projects. Little Free Library book exchanges inspire a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity. Nationwide, millions of books are swapped each year, increasing access to books to help improve literacy. Shown here are, back row from left, club vice president Dave Onesty and club members William Jordan, Allen Scales, David Kyle and Mike Ekdahl; front, Gloucester Community Engagement Coordinator Sulva Dow and club public service chair Betsy Tuttle.
