Public meeting tonight on solar facility

A community meeting will be held at 7 o’clock tonight at the Gloucester Library in Main Street Center so Strata Solar, LLC officials can explain their plans to develop a solar energy facility on Route 14 near Toddsbury Lane.

Kevin Day, regional director of development for the Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based company, said tonight’s meeting will be an informal way for residents to learn more about the project before it goes to a public hearing of the Gloucester County Planning Commission at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday, March 2, in the colonial courthouse. The commission will make a recommendation on the project to the Gloucester Board of Supervisors for a separate public hearing and ultimate vote.

Strata has filed an application for a conditional use permit to erect the solar facility on an approximately 203-acre site that it plans to lease heading east on Route 14 starting at Toddsbury Lane.
