A public hearing on the Mathews County School Board’s draft FY 2027 budget will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Brooks Auditorium at Thomas Hunter Middle School, followed by a joint meeting with members of the Mathews County Board of Supervisors at 6. The budget calls for an increase in local funding from the current allocation of $9.15 million to $9.4 million, with a projected drop in state funding of roughly $365,000 to $5.65 million. Anticipated federal funding shows an increase of about $115,000 from roughly $606,000 to $721,000.
