Pryor, Shackelford set GHS indoor track records

Gloucester High School track and field athletes started 2017 with a busy schedule. Boys’ team members competed in the MileStat Virginia Showcase Meet last Friday and Saturday in the new indoor facilities at Liberty University. 

John Pryor Jr. broke the GHS record in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.89 while Joshua Shackelford set a new school record in the mile with a time of 4:29.65 and was 10th overall. He also again attained MileStat Elite Athlete status. 

Shackelford improved his time in the 1,000, set a new school record, qualified for the state meet and again achieved MileState Elite Athlete status with a time of 2:36.93 in the mile. Aaron Shipe qualified for the conference meet with a time of 1:11.3 in the 500 and Re’Juan Forrest ran it in 1:15.86. 

Forrest and Joseph Conroy set new personal records with times of 39.54 and 39.09, respectively, in the 300 meter dash.
