Programs to be held at Machicomoco State Park

Machicomoco State Park, Hayes, has announced its program schedule for June.

Sunset on the Steps: On Friday, June 9, park-goers can explore some of the park’s best views at sunset, while visiting with park rangers. The program is free for all ages and will start at 8 p.m. at the Interpretive Area.

Catlett Islands Kayak Tours: On Father’s Day (Sunday, June 18), guests can paddle through the Catlett Islands on a ranger led kayak tour. Participants will get to enjoy a two-mile tour to explore the diverse wildlife, ecosystems and history of the park. The tour will start at 8 a.m. at the Cartop Boat Launch.

Pre-registration and additional fees of $15 per person are required to participate. To register, call 804-642-2418 or stop by the park office. Registration will close 24 hours prior to the event’s start.

Adult Adventure: Park-goers over the age of 18 years of age are invited to embark on a wayfinding adventure through the Interpretive Area on June 30 at 6 p.m. Similar to the park’s Junior Ranger program but introduces participants to the evolution of wayfinding as they navigate their way around the park solving riddles and puzzles.
