The Piankatank River Ladies’ Golf Association hosted its annual Golf Invitational on Thursday, July 31 at the club in Hartfield. This year’s theme was “Peace, Love and Golf” with modified team competition, individual challenges, raffles, food and fun organized by planning committee members Gloria Matthews, Donna Lange, Michele Meanley, Kay Stout, Kayce Turner and Bev Tate.

Twenty-six teams comprised of 103 women from the surrounding area, as well as from regional destinations and other golf leagues and courses, participated in the team game of two best balls gross and net with a “peace out” play token. Winners were:

Overall Low Gross: Casey Burley, Susie Fox, Michele Meanley and Kay Stout. Overall Low Net: Jena Simpson, April Dampier, Danielle Hogge and Marie Browning.

A Flight: First Low Gross: Martha Wiggs, Christi Lewis, Ellen McGowan and Nina Carter; Second Low Gross: Helen Rosson, Linda Knight, Mary Beth Huneke and Janet Kuklinca; First Low Net: Sandy Lee, Marilyn Cole, Jean Baumgartner and Joy Chimburke; Second Low Net: Rachael Shelton, Mary Edmonds, Gina Custis and Julie Whitaker.
