Private school and day care cancellations

Gloucester Montessori School will close, beginning Monday, following Governor Northam’s order that all Virginia K-12 schools will be closed for a minimum of two weeks.

Ware Academy has announced on its Facebook page that, while the private school does not fall under the direction of the Virginia Department of Education, it has decided to close school for the week of March 16-20 to support the community effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“We will assess the local situation during this time and determine if an additional week is necessary,” the Facebook post stated. “Please know that this was a difficult decision but feel it is best to follow the governor’s mandate.” Ware Academy teachers will be communicating assignments and class requirements in the upcoming days.

StartingPoint Academy at Harcum Road, Gloucester, will remain open and go on with business as usual for the time being, a spokesperson from the day care/preschool said.
