Presentation next week on home elevation

Contractor Michael Swiderski and Mathews County Building Official Jamie Wilks will give a presentation on house lifting at 7 o’clock next Thursday, May 7, in the third floor theater of the Halcyon Building, Court Street, Mathews.

With an increase in the number of home elevations in the area, the two men aim to dispel some of the local myths about lifting houses and give the audience facts they need to make decisions about their own home, according to a press release from the Mathews Film Society, which is sponsoring the talk.

Swiderski, owner of Storybound Inc., is a Class A general contractor based in Mathews County. Through slides and time-lapse video of local house lift operations, he will describe the seven phases of house lifting, including information on cost and timing.
