Prescreening for Care Clinic now offered in Mathews

Mathews residents won’t have to travel to Gloucester anymore to be prescreened for the possibility of receiving care at the Gloucester-Mathews Care Clinic.

The Mathews County Resources Council and the GMCC have partnered to give Mathews residents an opportunity once a week to come to the Mathews Health Department to pick up prescreening paperwork.

Residents will be able to visit the health department each Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon to complete the first step to becoming a patient at the clinic.

“We had a town meeting several months back and residents asked about screening opportunities in Mathews,” said GMCC executive director Kay Bradley. “So, the staff and I put together a plan.”

Some residents who depended on Bay Transit to take them to the GMCC in Gloucester for prescreening spend the better part of a day to complete the process, depending on bus schedules. Bradley said Mathews residents can come to the health department on Thursday mornings w...
