Potter, Shackelford win Bascombe 5K

Beverly Potter of Gloucester, and Joshua Shackelford of Hayes, were the overall winners of the Joyce Bascombe Memorial Scholarship 5K and One Mile Run/Walk held on Saturday at Gloucester High School.

Potter finished the 5K event in 19:53 and Shackelford had a time of 15:52. The event drew over 60 participants and raised almost $1,000 for a scholarship that honors the former GHS faculty member. Organizer John Perrin is still accepting donations for the scholarship fund.

The top finishers in each age category for females were as follows:

Ages 11-19—first, Rileigh Betz of Cardinal, 20:44.01; second, Kaylynn Glockner of Gloucester, 20:44.10; third, Alyssa Curko of Grimstead, 20:45;
Ages 20-29—first, Kirsten Long of Hayes, 21:32; second, Jessica Denson of Hayes, 26:30; third, Caitlyn Latham of Hayes, 27:28;
Ages 30-39—first, Kristy Hunter of Gloucester, 26:48; second, Kathy Koehl of Hayes, 32:25;
Ages 40-49—first, Anne Peterson of Gloucester, 23:46; second, Laura ...
