Portion of Middlesex road to close for bridge replacement

The Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Route 625 (Barrick’s Mill Road) in Middlesex County for approximately 14 weeks for a bridge replacement.

The project will replace the existing structurally deficient, timber deck bridge with a new 40-foot concrete slab structure on concrete abutments and concrete piles.

The existing structure, built in 1971, is 22 feet long. During construction, a portion of Barrick’s Mill Road at Barrick’s Pond will be closed to through traffic. During the closure drivers will be detoured approximately three miles using the following routes: Route 625 (Barrick’s Pond Road), Route 626 (Wake Road) and Route 624 (Regent Road).

The road will be closed to through traffic at the work site 24 hours a day. Construction activity will be underway from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
