Portia C. Smith, 62, a native of Mathews County, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, in Baltimore, Md.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Myrtle Smith of Port Haywood, and her husband, Lewis Smith.

She is survived by her son, Edward L. Smith, and her granddaughter, Melecca D. Smith.

Funeral services will be held in Baltimore on Tuesday. A viewing will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, Susan, from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, followed by burial in the church cemetery.

Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins, is in charge of arrangements.
