Polar Plunge rescheduled for Feb. 12

The third annual Mathews Polar Plunge, to raise money for school supplies for students in the community, originally to be held on Jan. 29, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12 at 8 a.m. at Haven Beach. The event was postponed due to last weekend’s snowstorm.

“Those who are brave enough make a $10 pledge to run into the freezing water for the cause and those not as brave/crazy can make a donation,” event organizer Amy Ashberry said.

There will be a donation bucket at the beach during the event or people can donate by cash, check, or electronic methods to Ashberry. Proceeds benefit the annual school supply giveaway/back to school event in August (“No Walls Community Day”).
