Pointers hand Lady Devils disappointing loss

The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team suffered a frustrating conference loss last Thursday at the hands of the West Point Pointers. MHS lost the match 3-1 by set scores of 22-25, 25-15, 28-30 and 18-25.

West Point is the most competitive team Mathews faces in its conference this season. The Lady Devils will have a chance to redeem themselves when they host the Pointers on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the final week of the regular season.

Kai McCann led the team in kills with 19 followed by Madison South with six, Anne Stewart with five and Mariah Robinson with four. Adding kills were Brittany Mitchem (three), Sophie Bandurco and Hallie Duncan (two each), and Keely Crittenden (one). Bandurco led in assists with 24 followed by South with 12 and Duncan with one.
