Poetry Society Festival Friday, Saturday at W&M

The 2022 Poetry Society of Virginia Festival will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in Miller Hall, 101 Ukrop Way, at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg.

There will be readings, workshops and door prizes, with a festival banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Ford’s Colony Country Club.

Keynote speaker Lisa Russ Spaar will open the festival with an address on Friday, followed by a book signing.

Highlights of the event include a poetry reading by North American Book Award winner David Mills and an interactive presentation by Virginia State Poet Laureate Luisa Igloria, “Ecopoetry: Writing (in) Our Only World.” In addition, Hermine Pinson will give a reading and Arkansas State Poet Laureate Suzanne Underwood Rhodes will present the workshop “Listen to Your Life: Represent It through Metaphor’s Power.”
