Plein air painting contest part of Gloucester Arts Festival

Art enthusiasts of all ages and abilities who register for Gloucester Arts Festival events taking place May 20-28 will have the opportunity to learn from and compete right alongside the region’s most talented artists.

Paint Main 2.5, the festival’s outdoor plein air painting competition, exhibition and sale, will be held from 8–11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27 at the Tabb House Lawn on Gloucester Main Street. The Paint Main event is open to anyone who wishes to participate—from students aged 13-18 to amateurs to professionals—and it includes invited festival artists. The cost is $10 for adults; $5 for students.

Children 12 and under can take part in the Kids Paint .5 event at 9 o’clock that same morning. It is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registered participants in Paint Main 2.5 will paint en plein air, with paintings then publicly displayed and judged by guest artist Hai-Ou Hou. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, and participants ...
