Plein air artists to give talk at Arts on Main

Plein air artists Nancy McCarra and Andreé Tullier, artists in residence this month at Arts on Main, Gloucester, will talk about their careers and artistic perspectives in a free talk at the gallery from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

According to a release announcing the talk, McCarra works in the open and returns to the same painting, at the same time of day and under the same conditions, until it is finished.

She is part of a group of six artists called The Maryland Colorists, and is secretary of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters. McCarra won an honorable mention for her work “Before the Rain” in the 2017 Gloucester Festival of the Arts.

Tullier also works in the plein air mode and paints in her studio and on commission for portraits. She teaches at Anne Arundel Community College and the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.

Both artists will host a plein air still life demonstration from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Arts on Main.
