Plein air art workshop held in Mathews

The Bay School Community Arts Center, Mathews, held a four-day workshop Oct. 4-7 on Capturing Light and Atmosphere Plein Air.

Taught by Joe Gyurcsak, the workshop’s objective was to teach artists how to see and paint with more confidence in order to create energized plein air paintings that capture the unique light and atmosphere the artist envisioned from the moment of their inspiration, said a press release.

Each day included a demonstration, a short lecture, a morning painting scene, an afternoon painting scene, and individual guidance and critiques, said the release.

Topics covered included drawing, composition, value, color, edges, and paint and surface manipulation. Beginner to advanced students painting in oils, acrylics, and watercolor were all included.
