The baseball spirit now rife throughout this country seems to be in evidence here and games are being scheduled right along.

On last Friday the Mathews High School crossed bats with the Cobbs Creek School at the latter’s home. The result was 8 to 0 in favor of Cobbs Creek.

On Monday of this week the Cobbs Creek boys were expected to play a return match here but failed to show up and a five-inning game was played between the school boys and a mixture of the Retz and Mathews C.H. men. They won 7 to 3.

Gloucester C.H. and Hayes Store played at Gloucester on last Friday. It was a close game, score being 7 to 6 in Gloucester’s favor.
