‘Planters with a Purpose’ forming in Mathews

Do you enjoy working in the garden? Have you thought about a garden club right here in Mathews County? Then you may be interested in checking out the new Mathews Community Garden Club … “Planters with a Purpose.”

The purpose of the club is to stimulate the knowledge and joy of gardening by assisting members to start, expand, or improve their plant growing skills, a release stated. The club’s first meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, beginning at 10 a.m., at the Mathews Extension Office, 10494 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews.

“Meet other gardening enthusiasts who want to share your gardening interests,” the release stated. “The club will meet on a monthly basis to discuss all of your gardening needs. You will also have the opportunity to become a Master Gardener.”

At the first meeting, those in attendance will receive a free soil sample kit, a Master Gardener Yearly Planting Guide and will take part in a discussion about future community projects. “Bring your ideas to help ...
