Plans unveiled for Cobbs Creek fire station

Mathews firefighters operating out of the Cobbs Creek station will now have a better idea what the new Station 4 is going to look like.

The building committee recently unveiled plans for the firefighters’ new home on Route 198 across from the industrial park, and chairman Dale Fitchett said that he and his fellow committee members want the membership and the county to see what they’re doing.

Designed by Tim Hudgins of Hudgins Design Collaborative in Mathews, the plans call for a 60’x70’ four-bay drive-through metal building. It will have a 20’x30’ dayroom, a bathroom with two stalls and a shower, and a mechanical room with storage space downstairs. Because of the height of the ceiling, there will be space for a meeting room upstairs that can double as sleep quarters if necessary, said Fitchett.
