Plans are underway for a pair of Audubon Christmas Bird Counts to be held locally.
The Middle Peninsula count (which includes Gloucester, Middlesex, King and Queen counties) will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, while the Mathews count will be held on New Year’s Day (Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023).

Other counts in the region will be held on Dec. 17 (Newport News), Dec. 18 (Great Dismal Swamp), Dec. 18 (Williamsburg and George Washington’s Birthplace counts) and Dec. 20 (North-umberland-Lancaster).
