Plans set for Clean Gloucester Day on March 9

The Gloucester Clean Community Committee firmed up plans for its third annual Clean Gloucester Day during a meeting held Feb. 19 at Botetourt Elementary School. The countywide cleanup will be held from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 9.

Staging areas will be at the parking lot near the Gloucester Library in Main Street Center and at the Waste Management convenience center lot on Guinea Road, Hayes, committee chairman Buzz Perkins said. Dumpsters will be available at both locations for proper disposal of trash collected from roadways and public places in Gloucester.

The Clean Community office will furnish vests, bags and gloves that volunteers can use to collect litter for the cleanup, which Perkins said is intended to spruce up many parts of the county prior to the Daffodil Festival in early April.
