Planning study designed to make Gloucester Point more vibrant urban area

Residents will have an opportunity Tuesday night to learn about the implementation of an Urban Development Area (UDA) at Gloucester Point and share ideas on how to make that area of the county more vibrant.

Gloucester Point district supervisor Bobby Crewe is hosting a meeting to discuss the community planning study, beginning at 7 o’clock in the Abingdon Elementary School cafeteria.

Gloucester’s planning director Anne Ducey-Ortiz said a UDA is an area of the county selected for future higher density, mixed-use growth. The Gloucester Point UDA will be incorporated into Gloucester’s Comprehensive Plan.

Doug Meredith, Gloucester’s director of Economic Development Authority (EDA), said a "perfect storm of conditions" fell into place to allow Gloucester to get a jumpstart on this opportunity to better the Point community.
