Planners to look at event venues, solar energy

The Gloucester County Planning Commission will revisit event venues and solar energy facilities during a meeting at 7 o’clock tonight in the colonial courthouse.

The commission has discussed both matters at length during its meetings of the past several months.

During its meeting July 6, planning staff led a workshop to discuss the potential code amendment for event venues. The commission discussed draft definitions, district regulations, and supplemental regulations for event venues.

Among items the commission identified for staff at that time, planner Carol Rizzio said, was the code amendments should not regulate or limit non-commercial and charitable events.

Also, Rizzio and Anne Ducey-Ortiz, director of planning and zoning, said in a July 25 memorandum to County Administrator Brent Fedors that staff should define “commercial event” to clearly differentiate between what is regulated and what is not.
