Planners to consider Gloucester Point rezoning

The Gloucester County Planning Commission will hold two public hearings during a meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday, Dec. 1, in the colonial courthouse.

David Forrest and Courtney Harris have applied for a rezoning to amend the Gloucester County Zoning Map to reclassify approximately 2.57 acres from B-1 (Business, conditional) to SF-1 (Single Family detached residential).

The purpose of the application, chairman W. Keith Belvin said, is to remove the conditions imposed by the 2001 rezoning and to allow for continued residential use of the property.

Planning director Anne Ducey-Ortiz said Monday the property had always been single family by right, but the previous owner sought the rezoning so the house could be used as a guest cottage. The new owners do not need the rezoning, Ducey-Ortiz said, and want to use the property as single family.
