Planners to consider changes to development’s proffers

The Gloucester County Planning Commission will consider an application to amend a previously approved list of proffers for The Villages of Gloucester, a planned residential development south of Gloucester Court House, when it meets tonight.

The planning commission meeting will begin at 7 o’clock in the colonial courthouse.

The Villages of Gloucester was rezoned to a Planned Unit Development in 2007 and comprises a 907.98-acre parcel between Hickory Fork Road and Route 615.

While no development has occurred since that initial rezoning, the project’s developers are seeking to remove or modify certain proffers in order “to increase the project’s marketability,” according to a planning staff report. The changes will not alter the project’s approved layout, design, quality and density, but the modifications are substantial enough to be considered a rezoning, planning staff said.
