Planners to begin CIP discussion tonight

The Gloucester Planning Commission will meet tonight in the colonial courthouse on Main Street, beginning at 7 o’clock, to begin reviewing the county’s capital improvements plan.

At this meeting, Acting County Administrator Carol Steele will introduce the CIP to the commission. Projects up for consideration are from the following departments: Engineering/Emergency Management; Information Technology; Library; Parks, Recreation & Tourism; Sheriff’s Office; and Schools.

The planners will hold a work session next Thursday, Oct. 14, to listen to department presentations of requested CIP projects. There will be additional department presentations (if necessary) at the commission’s Nov. 4 regular meeting. The planners will discuss the proposed projects at this meeting. From Nov. 5-12, commission members will rate the proposed projects and return the ratings to the Department of Planning and Zoning.
