Planners review utilities portion of comp plan

The Gloucester Planning Commission reviewed the community facilities chapter of the county’s comprehensive plan during a meeting last Thursday night in the colonial courthouse.

Planning director Anne Ducey-Ortiz said the comp plan review, which has been underway for a number of months, is expected to be completed in order to have public hearings on the matter before the end of the year.

Hampton Roads Planning District Commission is serving as consultant for the comprehensive plan review, with several personnel changes at that agency slowing the process.

A report included in the commission agenda packet said "planning for public utilities is crucial to the successful growth of any community."
