The Mathews County Planning Commission, meeting on Tuesday night in the historic courthouse, unanimously recommended approval of a Conditional Use Permit that would allow for construction of a 197-foot wireless communications monopole tower at a property on Beaverdam Road south of Mathews Court House. Planners held a second public hearing Tuesday night on a request to rezone a 2.006-acre parcel on Mariners Point Road in Hudgins from Rural (RU) to Residential 1 (R-1) to allow for the subdivision into two parcels as a pair of home sites. That rezoning request was also met with unanimous approval from the planning commission. Both applications will now advance to the Mathews County Board of Supervisors for final consideration.
