Planners recommend approval for three CUPs

Mathews planners and supervisors held a joint meeting Tuesday night in the Mathews High School auditorium to hold three public hearings, all on conditional use permits.

For the first public hearing the applicant, Mathews Material, LLC, is seeking a conditional use permit to operate a sand and gravel operation as well as offer portable toilet rentals at 51 Willow Oak Drive. The company wishes to store and sell stone, landscaping materials, and offer portable toilet rental on the property.

The parcel is nearly 2.5 acres in size and is located at the intersection of Buckley Hall Road and Willow Oak Drive in Cobbs Creek in the county’s Industrial (I) zoning district. Surrounding land uses include businesses, single-family homes and vacant/undeveloped land.
