Planners hold off decision on Villages of Gloucester changes

A gallery of Gloucester residents who waited patiently for the planning commission’s recommendation pertaining to The Villages of Gloucester proffer amendments will have to wait a little bit longer.

At its meeting Feb. 1, the Gloucester County Planning Commission moved to table its recommendation on approval or disapproval of the proposed proffer amendments until its March session.

The Villages of Gloucester is a large (908 acre) planned unit development located on Route 17 and Hickory Fork Road, just south of Burleigh and Belroi roads.

The proposed amendments were described in detail for several hours, as much of what was originally proffered has been changed or removed altogether.

In total, the 23 original proffers were proposed to be condensed to 18. Additionally, language changes were made to almost every proposed amendment. These were made in the interests of “marketability,” according to the applicant’s attorney.
