Planners endorse rezoning request

The Gloucester County Planning Commission recommended approval of a request to revise the zoning of a parcel in the River Club at Twin Island subdivision at Gloucester Point during its meeting last Thursday in the colonial courthouse.

Applicant Timothy Trant, on behalf of River Club on the York, LLC, requested approval to rezone approximately 2.6 acres of the 29.1-acre development, revising the Planned Unit Development’s conditions and proffers.

The applicant’s stated intent was to utilize two undeveloped parcels to construct 40 townhomes. These parcels were previously designated for three condominiums with a total of 54 units, but the development plan for the condos was never approved.

Several residents of River Club voiced their concerns about townhomes being constructed over the previously planned condominiums.
